Record growth for GoodLife
Canadian club chain GoodLife Fitness has reported growth exceeding all original projections for 2002 and announced a further six clubs will open by the end of the month.
The privately-owned chain will open clubs in Montreal, Ottowa and Toronto and CEO David Patchell-Evans expects to reach 70 clubs by the end of the year.
Patchell-Evans partly attributes the aggressive growth to GoodLife's partnership with Loblaw - a Canadian supermarket chain.
GoodLife opened it's first club within the stores in 1999 and by the end of this year will have 13 sites totalling more than 1m sq ft in floor space. The chains collaborate on marketing initiatives and try to encourage customers to combine healthy eating programmes with regular exercise at the gyms. Details: www.goodlifefitness.com
