Record visitor numbers at the Famous Grouse experience
The Famous Grouse Experience saw a record number of visitors during August, when 17,000 people were recorded passing through its doors, up 12 per cent on last year.
This brings the total number to more than 650,000 since re-opening in 2002.
The Experience, located at Scotland’s oldest working distillery, at Glenturret, was given a £2.5m revamp in 2002 and has since won a number of prestigious awards which include a BAFTA for its interactive show and a Visit Scotland five-star accreditation.
Not only is The Experience an attraction for tourists, offering three tours: The Experience, The Distillery and The Malt Tasting, as well as a restaurant and shop; it also caters for corporate functions and private hire offering conference facilities for team meetings and away days – the distillery can also be used in the evenings for events catering for up to 275 seated.
Since changes in the law have allowed couples more freedom to get married, the distillery has, more recently, been able to offer its facilities as a wedding venue. This has proved a popular choice for those looking for a more unusual venue.
