Redevelopment of Rhyl seafront in doubt
Construction of an £85m seaside development in Rhyl, north Wales, remains on hold while a new buyer is sought to take the Ocean Plaza project forward.
Manchester-based Modus planned to build new facilities on the seafront, including shops, offices, cafes, restaurants and a 60-bedroom hotel.
However, the developer went into administration in June and a new buyer is yet to come forward.
Simon Allport and Tom Jack of Ernst & Young LLP, joint administrators of Modus Properties since 9 June 2009, told Leisure Opportunities: "The options for the site are continually being assessed by the administrators and the various stakeholders of the development in order to progress the Ocean Plaza scheme forward.
"We have had interest in the scheme from a large number of parties and are continuing discussions with a small number who have the ability to complete such a transaction, the names of potential buyers remains confidential at this stage.
"In the meantime the administrators continue to progress the scheme, this includes the instruction for the demolition works."
