Referral programme for over-50s launches in US
Referral programme for over-50s launches in US The International Council for Active Aging (ICAA) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) have joined forces to offer the first national, age-appropriate fitness and wellness facility patient referral programme.
The partnership will allow participating physicians to refer patients over the age of 50 to age-friendly fitness facilities which have met ICAA standards.
The two groups say the new partnership will help increase older adult participation in physical activity and also provide greater assurance to them that a facility meets age-appropriate standards.
The ICAA will support AAFP member physicians in helping to get their older patients to become more active as well as offering those patients access to the resources and tools they need to lead healthier, more active lives.
