Refurbishment work set to start on Lichfield leisure centre
The Friary Grange Leisure Centre in Lichfield, Staffordshire, is about to start work on a £500,000 refurbishment that will include installing new changing rooms and a front entrance.
Walsall based construction firm, Niken Construction, will carry out the work, which starts on Monday 8 July. Work will include refurbishing the swimming pool changing rooms, relocating the main entrance, creating better and easier access into the leisure centre and pool, and creating a viewing platform to the pool from an extended refreshment area.
The pool will remain closed to swimmers while works take place up until autumn, however, the rest of the leisure will stay open with minimal interruption.
Sport England, Aiming High, Staffordshire County Council, Lichfield District Council and section 106 contributions are all funding the project.
