Regional award for Gloucester based Trust
Aspire Sports and Cultural Trust, based in Gloucester has won the 'Coaching Environment of the Year Award' at the ASA South West Regional 2010 Workforce Awards.
The Amateur Swimming Association award, seeks to recognise an organisation that has created a quality environment for the support and development of swimming teachers and coaches, showing innovation and transfer of knowledge through an effective system.
The Trust collected the award at a lunch presentation held at the Somerset College of Arts and Technology, Taunton and earned the recognition for the quality of swimming coaching undertaken at it's managed facility GL1 Leisure Centre.
Speaking of the ceremony, Julie Barnes, Swimming Development Officer said: "It is a great honour to receive this award on behalf of the team at Aspire. We are passionate about swimming development and this award cements the commitment our teachers and coaches deliver.
"Leading the South West in swimming coaching and having recently become only the second Enterprise in Gloucester to be awarded the Social Enterprise Mark shows we are making great waves in the city and the region as a whole.
Kelly Gaffney, ASA Coaching Systems Officer said: "Aspire, have always shown dedication to the development of teachers and coaches in aquatics. The efforts and pride in developing high performing swimming teachers at GL1 Leisure Centre deserves to be recognised at the highest level and it gives us the great pleasure to award Aspire this title".
Holding a service level agreement with the Institute of Swimming for many years, Aspire commits to host an annual programme of education opportunities through various levels of ASA courses and CPD workshops, of which, always fill up quickly and attract many new and existing teachers and coaches.
