Renfrewshire investment plans move forward
Renfrewshire Council's plans for a multi-million pound investment in local leisure facilities has moved forward after two planning applications were approved.
An adult day care centre - part of the £7.1m upgrade of Paisley's Lagoon Leisure Centre - and a £6.3m sports facility at Johnstone High School have been given the green light. The facilities will form part of the council's wider £92m investment in schools, community and leisure facilities.
Work at Lagoon Leisure Centre is scheduled for completion by summer 2012, along with the new-build community facility at Johnstone High School. Council leader Derek McKay said: "The granting of planning permission for these facilities are important milestones in this major investment programme.
"One of the key aims of the programme is to provide integrated facilities. The proposals for the adult day centre based in the Lagoon are a very good example of that."
