Former Center Parcs managing director Peter Moore OBE has joined the board of Northern Powerhouse developments (NPD).

As non-executive chairman of leisure, Moore will steer the company's short break, activity-led Resorts, which form part of the NPD portfolio. The firm develops commercial and residential property, including hotels and student accommodation.

Moore previously worked at Alton Towers, Center Parcs and the Chill Factore indoor ski village, in Manchester. He has served two terms on the board of the national tourism authority in England and in 1996 was awarded the OBE for services to the tourism industry.

Moore has already reviewed several NPD projects and will now be fine-tuning them.

On his appointment, Moore said: “NPD have clearly been looking for some time at how their concept can be translated into a very different, exhilarating resort experience, for its target audience. Gavin Woodhouse, chief executive of NPD, asked me to review their projects and to see if I could assist in the final design and delivery.”

On the short break, activity-led resorts, he added: “It's an exciting concept, with many similarities to, yet very different from Center Parcs, in its core offer. It does, however, require a similar skillset to turn it into an exciting guest experience and having done it before, I am convinced an offer of this type is absolutely right for the marketplace.”
