Restaurant Association announces Golf Society Winter Sun Meeting

Fancy playing golf for four days in the glorious Spanish sunshine? This is a golden opportunity for British Hospitality Association (BHA) member golfers to banish those winter blues with a short break at the Almenara Hotel Sotogrande in February 2006.

Provisional plans have been made for accommodation at the hotel from 19-22 February.

Golf has been reserved at the Almenara’s course on Monday 20 February and on Sotogrande’s newest and exclusive course La Reserva on Tuesday 21 February.

On the evening of 22 February there will be a Gala Dinner with prize giving and also arranged as an optional extra is an informal barbeque/gaucho grill on Monday evening.

The Almenara is a luxury four-star hotel/spa with indoor and outdoor pools, gymnasium, fitness centre sauna and steam bath, spa pool and solarium as well as its own golf academy with a two-tier driving range, three-hole practice course and putting and chipping area.

Accommodation is based on twin/double air-conditioned rooms including buffet breakfast.

The hotel is superbly placed for Puerto Banus and Marbella (30 mins) and is only 20 minutes drive from Gibraltar, with Malaga 75 minutes drive by motorway. For non-golfers, day tours can be arranged to Morocco and Jerez. There are regular flights by BA from Heathrow and Gatwick and with Monarch from Luton and Manchester. Easyjet also flies from a number of regional airports including Luton and Liverpool.

Competitive car hire rates are available at both Gibraltar and Malaga. The package does not include flights, car hire or insurance, but assistance can be given with all these services.

February is a peak month for golf on the Costa del Sol and as accommodation has to be confirmed with the hotel, please return initial confirmation with a cheque for £100 per person by 30 November. At the same time please confirm the name of each person and golf handicap. Balance will then be payable eight weeks before departure.

The price per person is £349 including accommodation with breakfast for three nights based on twin share, two rounds of golf and gala dinner with wine and prizes.

Non-golfers will be welcome at £249 per person, while there will be a supplement for single occupancy. Prices do not include the cost of flights.

Additional nights’ accommodation are available and also special golf rates will be available to allow you to play on other courses including Valderrama, Real Sotogrande and San Roque should you wish to extend your stay.

For further information or to request a booking form please contact David Harrold, Restaurant Association southern director, or Pauline Jackson, commercial manager, on +44 (0)20 7404 7744
