Restaurant Group predicts quieter year ahead
The Restaurant Group expects full year results to be in line with expectations, despite a slow down in sales during the second half of 2007.
The operator of the Frankie & Benny’s and Chiquitos restaurant chains said like for like sales growth in the last quarter was “more subdued” at 1 per cent, but that full-year sales were up 5.5 per cent.
As a result, chief executive Andrew Page expects 2008 to be a slightly quieter year, due to a more challenging outlook for the UK economy.
He said: “Although we anticipate tighter consumer conditions during 2008, we believe that the clear focus on our two distinct market segments will continue to benefit the group.”
Last September, The Restaurant Group announced it will expand its Frankie & Benny’s chain by 100 sites to a total of 250 across the UK over the next five years.
