Revamped Brixton square to be unveiled
Special celebrations are due to be held on 27-28 February to mark the completion of work to transform Windrush Square and Tate Gardens in Brixton, South London.
A new public space has been created as part of the regeneration of the square, which will provide a new centrepiece for the town centre and a venue for a range of community events. Windrush Square and Tate Gardens have been linked as a new open space for pedestrians, including a water feature, 21 trees, lighting and a sculptural granite seat.
A lantern-lit procession featuring local children will take place on 27 February, while a series of family activities and arts workshops will be held on 28 February. The scheme, which forms part of the mayor of London's Great Outdoors programme, was led by Lambeth Council in partnership with Transport for London.
