The Rezidor Hotel Group has announced that will open a hotel under its new Missoni brand in Cape Town, South Africa, in time for the FIFA World Cup in 2010.

The news comes just after Rezidor's first Hotel Missoni opened in Edinburgh on Monday (8 June), and while the company has two other sites under development in Kuwait and Oman.

The group signed a worldwide license agreement with Italian fashion house Missoni in order to create the brand.

The 157-room Hotel Missoni Cape Town will boast a signature Missoni Cucina Restaurant, a bar, a rooftop terrace with a swimming pool, a spa and private dining facilities.

Kurt Ritter, president and CEO of Rezidor, said: "Like all hotels under our Missoni brand, the new property in Cape Town will demonstrate a strong interest in design, an appreciation of detail, an understanding of food and wine, a belief in authenticity, a cognisance of culture from a contemporary point of view, and a strong and equitable set of social values."

The property will be Rezidor's fourth Cape Town hotel, after the Radisson Blu Hotel Waterfront, Park Inn Greenmarket Square and Radisson Blu Hotel Blaauwberg, which is also due to open in 2010.
