Rileys to introduce darts
Troubled snooker and pool club operator, Rileys, is to introduce darts zones at its remaining clubs as part of efforts to revitalise the business.
The company will introduce darts zones at "a number" of its 130 clubs, with the first one haing launched in Croydon last week.
The zone will be fitted out with championship quality boards, hi-tech electronic scoring and special lighting.Rileys is hoping to benefit from the combination of a rapid rise in popularity of darts and the ongoing spate of pub closures - the traditional home of darts clubs.
Maurice Kelly, Rileys' chief executive, said: "Rileys will become the new home of darts.
"Our facilities, from bar to darts board, will offer a very high quality alternative to the local pub."
Earlier this month, Rileys announced the closure of 30 properties and the loss of 200 jobs after it entered administration due to a downturn in trading.
