Ripley opens Australian site
Attractions operator Ripley Entertainment has opened its latest Ripley's Believe It or Not! "odditorium" in the Cavill Mall at Surfers Paradise, Queensland, Australia.
The 9,000sq ft (836 sq m) attraction has 15 galleries housing exhibits typical to the Believe It or Not! sites - such as shrunken heads, matchstick art, two-headed animals – as well as a range of interactive displays.
The new site replaces the original Surfers Paradise Believe It or Not!, which opened in 1988 and closed in late 2007.
The new attraction, located on the ground floor of the new 77-story tall Soul Building, being developed by Juniper Development Group, is only 100ft from the previous location.
Jim Pattison Jr., president of Ripley Entertainment, said: "We are excited about our return to Surfers Paradise and the opportunity to showcase the most magnificent Believe It or Not! Odditorium in the world.
"We've taken technology to a new level at Ripley's with this museum. There are interactive elements everywhere you look - on the ceilings, on the floor, on the wall. They all help us tell our story in a fun, engaging way."
The launch of the Surfers Paradise attraction increases the number of Ripley's Believe It or Not museums to 31 in 11 countries.
