A new urban wellness retreat has opened in downtown Portland, Oregon, at the recently opened luxury hotel The Ritz-Carlton, Portland.

Situated on the 19th floor of the 35-storey, 251-room hotel, Cloudbreak on Nineteen has been conceived with the help of ROAM Interior Design as a restorative health and wellness haven complete with a spa inspired by the unfolding petals of a Portland rose.

One of the spa's highlights is its Hidden Mountain Lake Pool. The zero-edge infinity pool is encompassed by three sides of floor-to-ceiling glass, offering guests expansive views of Mount Hood and the Cascade Range in the distance.

The spa is also complete with a feature wall of cascading water tumbling from a rose copper shelf into a tranquil pool. The soothing feature is inspired by Portland’s abundance of beautiful waterfalls.

Additional amenities include saunas, steamrooms, a whirlpool, a snow shower, private relaxation pods, a co-ed relaxation lounge and a spa retail boutique.

The spa offers treatment experiences by Espa, including massages, facials and body treatments. Nail services are also available.

Bite-sized wellness

Cloudbreak’s wellness offering is differentiated by its Timeless Capsule – a dedicated area designed as a flexible respite for those who want to experience the spa but have limited time.

Guests can immerse themselves in soft lighting, soothing sounds and refreshing scents for 25-minute experiences and enjoy a moment of relaxation in the antigravity chair or opt for sound healing journeys.

Mindful movementBeyond the spa, Cloudbreak is home to a 4,000sq ft fitness centre bathed in light with floor-to-ceiling windows.

The spacious open-plan facility provides access to state-of-the-art Technogym cardio and strength-building equipment as well as a private movement studio used for yoga and meditation classes.
