Ritz-Carlton announces first Austrian hotel
The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company (RCHC) has announced plans to open its first property in Austria with the 202-bedroom Ritz-Carlton Vienna, which is due to launch in mid 2012.
Two 19th century palaces on Schubertring and culturally-protected by the government are set to house the hotel, which will be owned by an investor represented by Verny Capital.
The new Austrian property forms part of the operator's ongoing international expansion and follows the recent acquisition of The Ritz-Carlton, Moscow in the Russian capital.
RCHC president and chief operating officer Herve Humler said: "We have viewed many sites in Vienna over the years and believe this location will offer our sophisticated travellers an exciting new place to explore and enjoy.
"Constructed in the late 19th century this prime location, combined with the exemplary service for which The Ritz-Carlton is known, will produce memorable stays for all our guests when it opens in the second quarter of 2012."
