Robin Hood website launched to promote Sherwood lottery bid
A new website dedicated to providing information on Sherwood: The Living Legend lottery bid and the 2007 Robin Hood Festival goes live today (1 March).
The site, www.robinhood.co.uk will offer the public detailed information about the bid being submitted to the BIG Lottery Fund in May – which includes building a new visitor centre complex designed to look like a tree in Sherwood Forest, Nottinghamshire.
The bid also covers improving access – including new walking, cycling and riding routes – creating 300 hectares of new woodland, heathland and wetlands; and 50 further local projects.
Austin Brady, chair of the Sherwood: The Living Legend management board, said: “We’re really pleased with our new interactive website. It will be a key communication tool for us. By its nature this lottery bid is a fast moving project – so it’s vital we have a way of keeping everyone up to date. It’s also a great way of consulting with people and getting their feedback too, something we’re very committed to doing.
“We’ve also got details all the events taking place at Sherwood Forest – including the Robin Hood Festival.
“We hope people will register their e-mail address and mobile phone number to receive updates on the project. We’ve recently learned that the public vote is now likely to be in December, so it’s really important that we can e-mail or text people to tell them how and when to vote for Sherwood: The living legend.”
