Roehampton Club refurbishment complete
Roehampton Club, a multi-sport members' club in south west London, has announced that a three-phase, £10m refurbishment programme has now been completed.
Kier Wallis and David Corley Architects worked on the third and final £5m stage of the revamp, which included the relocation of the club's car parks to the front of the site. The work has also included the creation of a newly-planted central area overlooking its four new French clay tennis courts. Mellersh and Harding acted as project manager.
A flood mitigation scheme designed by Barnard and Co was also undertaken to ensure rainfall on the golf course was re-used. Creative Golf Design and MJ Abbott worked on a redesign of the golf course, which has involved the creation of three new tees and greens and the reshaping of 72 bunkers.
Earlier phases included the 2003 refurbishment of the 1960s clubhouse with a new interior design and the 2004 relocation of the gym to the current health club. The health club incorporates a Technogym-equipped fitness suite; a steamroom, a sauna, a whirlpool, a studio and a juice bar.
Facilities at Roehampton Club also include two swimming pools; five squash courts; and four croquet lawns. Roehampton Club chief executive officer Marc Newey said: "We are proud to announce the completion of our extensive refurbishment project that has enhanced our facilities even further."
