We have purposefully created an exclusive environment where people can come together to embrace all dimensions of wellbeing

The Rosewood Doha’s social wellbeing club, Asaya, has opened in Qatar, offering hotel guests and members hydrotherapy recovery rituals, movement classes, sound healing, advanced skin therapies and biohacking innovations.

The Doha property has 155 guest rooms, 162 serviced apartments and 276 Rosewood Residences. It was designed by Qatari architect Ibrahim Jaidah, who is known for creating buildings that blend in with their surroundings and reflect the spirit of the local community.

Interiors are by Lillian Wu, founder of Lillian Wu Studio, featuring curves inspired by Arab sailing vessels known as dhow boats and seashells.

Asaya

The Asaya brand has recently repositioned as a social wellbeing club, with The Chancery Rosewood in London, UK, launching last month under the reimagined concept.

In Doha, Asaya’s spa treatment and bathhouse areas measure 1,226 sq m. The configuration and design were by consultancy The Wellness (Dubai), while programming and service design were curated in-house.

The spa has eight treatment rooms – six single and two couples’ suites – as well as one hammam suite.

The indoor ladies bathhouse has one vitality pool, cold plunge pool, Himalayan salt wall sauna, crystal steamroom and anti-gravity heated loungers. The men’s bathhouse features one cold plunge pool, a salt wall sauna, steam hammam and one experience shower.

The facility’s Social House, which is used for private gatherings and workshops, has a vitality pool, a rasul and an experience shower.

Outdoor facilities include five pools that are spread over three different zones. These include an adults-only 25 metre lap pool and jacuzzi; a family pool area with an infinity pool and separate kids’ pool; and a lounge pool area with the property’s main pool and a long wading pool.

Theresa Winkler, director of wellness at Rosewood Doha, told Spa Business: “We don’t see ourselves as a classic hotel spa, we define ourselves as a social wellness club and this is really what sets it apart.

“Asaya is a place exclusively for residing hotel guests and members to socialise, where they can have a juice or a great meal at Asaya Kitchen, where they elevate their physical fitness solo or guided by our coaches, where they can meditate and reconnect, listening to a sound bath, where they can recover high- or low-tech, enjoy world-class spa therapies or beautify the outer being,” added Winkler. “We have purposefully created an exclusive environment where people can come together to embrace all dimensions of wellbeing.”

Guests begin their journey with a three-stage personalised assessment: a lifestyle consultation based on the results of biohacking tests, a Technogym CheckUp fitness evaluation, an AI-assisted skin health assessment and an aromatherapy herbology session.

Signature partnerships

Brands bringing their products and protocols to Doha include Dr Barbara Sturm’s anti-inflammatory skincare products and the Sturmglow Facial.

Japanese technology and French beauty brand EviDenS de Beauté also offers treatments, in addition to Subtle Energies’ ayurvedic aromatherapy and biotechnology therapies.

Other partners include Arabian beauty company Allum, Moroccan hammam rituals by marocMaroc and LED therapies by MZ Skin.

The property will also offer 24K Gold earseeding acupressure treatments by Vie Healing Alignment, in collaboration with LA-based practitioner Mona Dan.

Salon styling products are by Duck & Dry and men’s grooming treatments are by Pankhurst London.

Spa Supply Solutions provided procurement support.

Sensory therapies

Asaya offers sound therapies and serene relaxation spaces, including immersive touchless wellness rituals provided using vibro-acoustic sound chairs by Gharieni Group’s dedicated brand Welnamis.

Group and private sound healing therapy sessions will also be provided by Altha Healing.

Portuguese biotech skincare innovator Ignae will provide mental and body detox therapies, while Subtle Energies will offer treatments to enhance the signature Rosewood Alchemy of Sleep programme.

Fitness

Fitness and movement is catered for at Asaya with a Technogym featuring the latest Artis equipment line and a ladies’ facility for outdoor functional training, a yoga deck and adaptable movement studio for pilates, barre or indoor cycling.

AquaPhysical will provide exercise sessions on floating mats and other fitness sessions will be on offer shortly, such as red light therapy workouts and those by Lagree Megaformer.

Nutrition

Locally sourced ingredients will form part of Asaya’s nutritional offer at Asaya Kitchen, providing food cooked according to Mediterranean principles.

Do-it-yourself protein shakes by Innermost and energising shots will also be available, alongside functional mushroom blends by Dirtea.

Healthnag will offer detox programmes.
