Rosewood to open luxury hotel and residences within US$45bn mega-project in Doha

Rosewood Doha and Rosewood Residences Doha will create a new and differentiated benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality in the region

Rosewood Hotels and Resorts is expanding its presence in the Middle East with plans to open a hotel and residences in Doha, Qatar, in 2022.

Housed in two towers, Rosewood Doha and Rosewood Residences Doha will consist of one 40-storey building that will include 300 residences for purchase while the other 37-floor tower will feature a 185-room ultra-luxury hotel and 173 serviced apartments for longer-term stays.

The hotel group has partnered with Qatar-based developer, Arkaz Investments, to bring the project to life.

It will be located within the US$45bn mega-project, called Lusail City, which extends across 38sq km and comprises four exclusive islands and 19 multi-purpose residential, mixed-use, entertainment and commercial districts.

The Rosewood destination will feature a signature Rosewood Spa – named Sense – with both design and concept inspired by purity and authenticity.

The facility will offer a spa menu including signature treatments using natural ingredients and also offer guests the opportunity to visit a fitness centre featuring state-of-the-art training equipment.

The project's overarching design concept is inspired by underwater forms, specifically the local coral formations.

The organic architectural design approach is aimed at respecting the site and its surrounding Arabian Gulf waters, while promoting harmony between human habitation and the natural world.

The architectural project is conceptualised by a team from Arab Engineering Bureau (AEB) headed by chief architect Ibrahim M Jaidah, a prominent Qatari architect known for his design philosophy where a built structure responds to its natural environment, but also belongs to the cultural and social context in which it exists.

“Rosewood Doha and Rosewood Residences Doha will create a new and differentiated benchmark for ultra-luxury hospitality in the region,” said Sonia Cheng, Rosewood CEO.

Rosewood Residences Doha will introduce 300 for-sale residential apartments, complete with bespoke amenities, facilities and services to create a pinnacle of private luxury living and contemporary style in Qatar.

“We’re delighted to join hands with Rosewood Hotels and Resorts, renowned for its one-of-a-kind collection underpinned by its iconic A Sense of Place philosophy,” says Aman G. Shahani, CEO, Arkaz Investments.

“We’re proud to showcase the rich culture of Qatar as well as our visionary and innovative ambition for the future through Rosewood’s uniquely sophisticated lens and become the new lifestyle destination for Lusail City and Qatar.”
