Rothesay THI secures £1.5m Lottery grant
Efforts to regenerate Rothesay town centre in Argyll and Bute have received a boost after the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) announced a confirmed grant worth £1.5m.
The grant - awarded through the Townscape Heritage Initiative (THI) programme - now means that £2.6m is available to undertake the project and revitalise the town. A number of historic buildings are to be restored as part of the THI scheme, with Argyll and Bute Council (ABC) and Historic Scotland also among the funding partners.
HLF's Colin McLean said: "Our research shows that Town Heritage Initiative schemes can really help turn local economies around. "HLF is looking forward to working with all the partner organisations in carrying this momentum forward to ensure a brighter future for the town."
