S&N makes record training investment
Scottish & Newcastle Pub Enterprises (S&NPE) is to invest more than £250,000 in training over the next year in a bid to offer some of the most highly trained lessees in the pub industry.
The investment will provide training for more than 300 lessees and their staff in the core skills needed to operate a profitable pub.
Areas covered in this five-day course include licensing law, drugs awareness, employment law and trading standards, as well as cellar management, marketing and customer care.
The course also allows delegates to gain the British Institute of Innkeeping National/Scottish Licensees Certificate and the British Institute of Innkeeping Induction Exam.
S&NPE training officer, Michael Soderquest, says the company constantly reviews its courses to bring them in line with the issues concerning the modern publican, such as the effects of the new Sex Discrimination Act, Employment Act and the Age Discrimination Act: 'Our courses aim to bring to the leased market, the quality of courses you would expect from big managed pub companies, improving our lessees business performance and profitability.'
