SAQ award endorsed by Dyspraxia Foundation
SAQ International’s SEN Award has been given the thumbs up by the Dyspraxia Foundation.
Launched this year, the Preliminary Award in Developing Skills of Children with Movement Difficulties offers practical experience in evaluating and improving children’s motor skills.
The Award is particularly beneficial for instructors of children's fitness and also for physiotherapists.
Dr Madeleine Portwood, specialist senior educational psychologist in County Durham and chair of the Education Committee at the Dyspraxia Foundation, has used SAQ training techniques to both recognise and treat the effects of dyspraxia as well as other disorders such as autism.
“The SEN Award adapts to the individual movement needs of children and encourages them to extend their skills naturally,” she said. “It suits their behaviour and natural development and is easy to follow.”
Dyspraxia is an impairment in the organisation of movement and can cause language, perception and thought problems. Details: +44 (0)1664 810 101
