SIV signs table tennis deal
Sheffield International Venues (SIV) has signed a two-year agreement with the British Table Tennis Federation (BTTF) to extend the sport's performance programme in the city.
The deal – supported by Sheffield City Council, Sheffield Hallam University and Yorkshire South – will see the 2012 Olympics team continue to train at SIV's English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Attercliffe, where the BTTF has been based since 2007.
Lorenzo Clark, director of operations at SIV, said: "Securing table tennis at EIS Sheffield for a further two years signals the strength of our offer in the city. The new partnership will result in the development of a programme of international events in Sheffield, such as national, European and World Championships and qualifiers.
"We will also work in partnership to establish table tennis camps to support elite programmes and grassroots development."
Three other national governing bodies of sport - GB Diving, GB Volleyball and the British Amateur Boxing Association – are also based in Sheffield.
