Saatchi gallery for South Bank
Charles Saatchi is to open a major new art gallery in the former home of the Greater London Council at County Hall on London's South Bank.
Due to open next spring on the doorstep of Tate Modern, the museum will be devoted to modern art. The Saatchi Gallery will focus on large-scale shows by contemporary British artists including works by the Chapman brothers, Tracey Emin, Damien Hurst and Sarah Lucas.
Its primary aim however will be promoting young British artists says Saatchi: ' I don't want the artists I believe in having to wait until they are pensioners before the public has a chance to see their works in large scale shows.'
