Doettling Luxury Safes is a small, exclusive manufactory in Germany which creates what it believes are the world's finest luxury safes.

In addition to building modern high-security safes and refurbishing old ones, the company will also customise valuable antique pieces with interiors such as humidors, minibars and watch or gun cabinets, each one designed to be totally unique to the client.

Whether it be a restoration or a recreation, specialists at Doettling - including locksmiths, expert restorers, carpenters, upholsterers and air conditioning technicians - will spend between three and six months on each project.

Every step of the process is overseen by Markus Dottling himself and, since an item can weigh between 300 and 2000kg, the safes are usually delivered to their new home by ship or air.

Prices start from around US$55,000, with a recent gun cabinet project for a Russian collector reported to have cost US$160,000.
