Pub chain JD Wetherspoon has announced flatlining sales for the early summer months.
In a pre-close trading update for the year ending 24 July the company reported a 0.4 per cent fall in like-for-like sales for the 11 weeks to 10 July.
Despite the decline, the company said it is in line to meet analysts’ expectations when it announces its full-year results on 2 September.
During the current financial year, Wetherspoon has opened 13 pubs and plans to operate 55 non-smoking pubs by Christmas.
Wetherspoon currently has 25 smoke-free pubs in its 656-strong portfolio. Details: www.jdwetherspoon.co.uk
