Savoy to reopen this weekend, but not the Grill
The Savoy hotel in London is due to open this weekend following a £220m revamp, but the famous Savoy Grill will not take bookings until the end of November.
The opening of the Gordon Ramsay-run restaurant, overseen by chef-patron Stuart Gillies, has been delayed due to “structural issues”.
A spokesperson for Gordon Ramsay Holdings said: “The short delay is due to some small structural issues with the building, which have now been rectified."
The hotel’s reopening is two years late and £100m over budget, but highlights of the renovation include the complete remodelling of the River Restaurant, the addition of a new two-bedroom Royal Suite and the re-launch of 38 River suites and guestrooms with views over the River Thames.
New to the hotel, 120 years old and managed by Fairmont Hotels and Resorts, will be The Beaufort Bar, an art deco bar offering champagne, cocktails and cabaret, and Savoy Tea, a bijou teashop selling Savoy tea, accessories and fresh patisserie.
