Scheme launched to improve health club membership retention
More than 450 health, leisure and fitness clubs have registered their interest to take part in an FIA approved scheme designed to improve membership acquisition and retention.
'Exercise Anywhere', launched by Sportsvine (responsible for 'Sport for Life') enables club members to exercise elsewhere than their 'home' club for 24 sessions free of charge on payment of a nominal membership fee.
'Ultimately this scheme will improve retention and recruitment and an additional income stream for participating clubs', commented Nigel Wallace, FIA executive director.
Members will be charged £25 to participate in the scheme, which includes a commission element for the club. Clubs can also pre-buy bulk memberships at reduced rates.
Des O'Neill of Sportsvine says thousands of people spend time away from home, particularly on business: 'This scheme helps them to keep fit and healthy wherever they are and all year round thereby adding great benefit to their own club membership.'
