Scottish mountain biking sector 'set for growth'
Scottish tourism firms have been urged to capitalise on the predicted growth in the mountain biking sector over the next five years, which is expected to be worth £155m to the country.
The market is currently worth £119m a year to the national economy, although it is expected to grow by nearly a third and is now Scotland's second most popular adventure activity. Tourism Intelligence Scotland has published a mountain biking guide to help companies to take advantage of the growth as part of its Opportunities for Growth Series.
Scottish Enterprise tourism product development manager Katrina Morrison said: "Mountain biking is so much more than a niche market for adrenalin-junkies. "It offers the perfect social activity for families, an alternative day out for older couples, and an exciting new challenge for beginners."
