The work of the façade is a tribute to the architecture of the nineteenth century, working steel and glass as a uniform ensemble generating an extremely transparent volume generous in light and views.
– Gérard Ronzatti

Seine Design have created a €5.4m (US$6m, £4.6m) floating guinguette – a small restaurant and dance hall – with glass-panelled sides and a glass roof that give visitors views of its River Seine location.

Rosa 2, which is a venue for the Rosa Bonheur chain, replaced an existing floating guinguette that was moored close to the prestigious Pont Alexandre III bridge.

From onboard, visitors can see the Eiffel Tower, the Grand Palais and the Place de la Concorde.

While the previous craft had glass sides, Rosa 2's more open glass sides and roof allow more light in during the day and also offer better views of the surroundings.

Gérard Ronzatti, principle of Seine Design, explained: "The work of the façade is a tribute to the architecture of the nineteenth century, working steel and glass as a uniform ensemble generating an extremely transparent volume generous in light and views.

"A geometry that is rigorous and in continuity with the volumes of the building. It is an architectural response to the very open site, which gives food for thought on the questions of affirmation and integration in the surrounding landscape."

Measuring 40m (131ft) long and 14m (46ft) wide, it is also said to be slightly larger than its predecessor.

In addition to an internal space with a dance area and bars of 820sq m (8,830sq ft), there is a 150sq m (1,610sq ft) of outdoor terracing – one on the lower level and a newly introduced upper-level terrace.

Construction began in 2018 and was completed in July 2019, before the guinguette was floated along the Seine into place.
