Shandrani spa gains new wellness centre
A new wellness centre has opened at the Shandrani Resort & Spa in Mauritius. Called La Source Wellness Centre, the new facility has been built in addition to the existing La Source Spa and will be managed by Shandrani's owner, Beachcomber Hotels, alongside Decléor-trained therapists.
Located within the tropical gardens of the resort, the new centre was designed by Mauritian architect Maurice Giraud in collaboration with the general manager and the spa manager, and has a large badamier tree as the centrepiece of the design.
Covering 25,833sq ft (2,400sq m), the centre features 20 open-sided treatment cabins with private walled gardens and an outdoor shower, a slate swimming pool and two saunas.
Other facilities include an ayurvedic centre and relaxation areas, two saunas and a series of hammams.
Decléor will be the product brand used for the treatments, which have been inspired by ayurveda and the Orient. Prior to opening the new wellness centre, Decleor opened a school in Mauritius specifically in order to train the new spa staff.
