Shangri-La enters Turkey with spa hotel in Istanbul
Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts is set to unveil its first property in Turkey with six of the hotel's 13 floors built underground to protect the historic façade.
Located beside the Maritime Museum on the European shore of the Bosphorus Strait, Shangri-La Bosphorus, Istanbul features 186 guestrooms and 17 suites.
The hotel, which is expected to open by April, will house Shangri-La's signature Chi, The Spa.
The spa is inspired by Chinese healing therapies and will house seven private treatment rooms.
Two hammams, an indoor pool, a beauty salon and health club will also feature at the spa.
The six underground floors will house the gym, swimming pool, spa, ballrooms and event space.
Dining options include an Asian and Western all-day restaurant and a Chinese restaurant with three private dining rooms and intimate booths.
The hotel will feature more than 4,500 sq m (48,438sq ft) of meeting and banqueting facilities including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom and six function rooms.
