Shangri-La to open three new hotels in northern China
Hong Kong-based Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts is to open three new hotels in northern China in 2013.
The properties are in Qinhuangdao, Tianjin and Tangshan, all important coastal cities on the Bohai Bay with ports serving north China and northeast Asia. The 320-room Shangri-La Hotel, Qinhuangdao will be located on the beach in the city's Haigang district and facilities are to include a Chinese restaurant, an all-day dining restaurant, a bar, a health club with a 25m lap pool and an additional freeform pool. Meeting space will take the form of a 1,200sq m (12,917sq ft) grand ballroom and a multi-purpose pavilion within the hotel's waterfront gardens.
Shangri-La Hotel, Tianjin is to be incorporated into the city's new Kerry Centre complex on the Haihe River. The 535-room property will offer the Horizon Club lounge and sky lounge, an all-day dining restaurant, a Chinese restaurant and a lobby lounge and bar. Meeting facilities are to include a 2,000sq m (21,528sq ft) grand ballroom. The 370-room Shangri-La Hotel, Tangshan will be in the Phoenix New Town development on the north side of the city and feature a lobby lounge within an atrium with park views. Conference space will include a 1,375sq m (14,800sq ft) grand ballroom, while dining options are to be an all-day restaurant, a Chinese restaurant, and other specialty restaurants.
