Shaun and Joe to launch gay bar in Soho
The Mean Fiddler Music Group is to launch a luxurious new gay members bar and club in London’s Soho tomorrow (9 July).
Shaun & Joe, the brainchild of general managers Joseph McColgan, of The Berkeley Square and Shaun Given, former manager of The Shadow Lounge, will have a capacity of 400 and offer a mixture of intimate areas, an integrated dance floor and a large VIP area.
It will offer bespoke cocktails and ‘modern British’ food. Membership will be by invitation only and given at the discretion of the owners as a gift. Benefits of membership include not only queue jumping and a monthly newsletter but also preferential rates at top boutique and gay-friendly hotels and weekend breaks throughout the UK. Non-members will also be welcome at the club.
Vince Power, chair of Mean Fiddler, said: “I am delighted to follow on the success of G-A-Y Old Compton St and the G-A-Y nights at Astoria with the launch of this new upmarket gay club. It fits in neatly with our presence in the heart of London’s Soho.
The interior has been created by Shaun Clarkson, who said: “Shaun & Joe is an inspired medley of rich velvets in jewel colours, studded with twinkling buttons of light. The interior is sensual and designed to stimulate all the senses.”
Shaun & Joe is situated in Goslett Yard just off Charing Cross Road and will be open from 6pm to 4am Monday to Saturday. Details: www.shaunandjoe.com
