Sherwood Forest plans announced
Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) has announced plans to push forward its Sherwood Forest Visitor Centre plans.
It is anticipated that the new facility will be open by the summer 2014 under proposals set to go before the council's cabinet on 14 September. NCC said that it is looking to establish a "visitor experience for the 21st century" on a site adjacent to Sherwood Forest.
An existing centre within the boundaries of the Sherwood Forest National Nature Reserve is to be removed by 2016 in a bid to improve the area's European conservation status. It comes at the same time that NCC announced that it is planning to establish a National Water Sport Centre.
