Shia LaBeouf sets up call centre in Liverpool art gallery
Liverpool’s Foundation for Art and Creative Technology (FACT) has teamed up with Hollywood actor Shia LaBeouf to deliver a very unique style of performance art as a temporary installation.
Started on 10 December, the #TOUCHMYSOUL exhibition by LaBeouf, British artist Luke Turner and Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö, features the trio sitting at a “call centre” inside the art gallery, asking members of the public to phone in and “touch [Shia’s] soul”.
For those wishing to touch LaBeouf’s soul, they can phone the call centre on +44 (0)151 808 0771. A live stream is also available while people can watch the five-day spectacle unfold by visiting the gallery.
LaBeouf – who has starred in blockbusters such as Transformers and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull – has become well known in recent years for often odd public art performances exploring the nature of fame and the public persona.
The performance is part of a larger group exhibition titled Follow, which opened to the public at FACT today (10 December) and runs until 21 February 2016.
