Singapore IR bids reviewed
The Singapore government will announce the winning bid for the 20.6 hectare (51 acre) integrated resort development at Marina Bay in Singapore this June – months earlier than expected.
Bids submitted by casino operators Las Vegas Sands, MGM Mirage and CapitaLand, Harrrah’s Entertainment and Keppel Land, and Genting International and Star Cruises are under review.
The integrated resort is scheduled to open in 2009. A request for proposals for a second 49 hectare (121 acre) casino integrated resort on the Singaporean island of Sentosa was launched on 28 April.
Bidders have until 10 October to submit their proposals and the government will announce the winner of the second casino licence by the end of the year.
Facilities could include hotels and spas as well as a casino.
