A Rocco Forte hotel, the Hotel de Russie in Rome, has become the seventh member of its group to join the marketing organisation, Leading Hotels of the World.

Situated in the centre of the city of Rome, the hotel has terraced gardens with alfresco dining in Le Jardin du Russie and offers 125 bedrooms, including 31 suites. The hotel also offers a spa with marine hydropool, Turkish steam bath, sauna, gym and beauty treatments and five meeting rooms to accommodate up to 90 people.

Commenting on the latest development, Sir Rocco said: "We have enjoyed an excellent working relationship with The Leading Hotels of the World since 1997. Leading Hotels of the World is an excellent organisation, which ensures that its member hotels guarantee the highest standards of hotel accommodation, facilities and service for their guests. I look forward to adding more hotels to their collection as my company grows."

The Leading Hotels of the World says it now represents 400 hotels, totalling more than 85,000 rooms in 79 countries. Hotels applying for membership undergo a rigorous inspection process that is periodically repeated to ensure "strict adherence" to the company’s quality standards.

Paul McManus, president chief executive officer of The Leading Hotels of the World said the organisation was delighted that the Hotel de Russie had joined: "It is a beautiful hotel in one of Europe’s key cities. This latest addition to our portfolio helps to solidify our already very long-standing relationship with Rocco Forte Hotels and Sir Rocco Forte."

The Hotel de Russie was re-opened in Spring 2000 after spending £13m on a refurbishment programme. Details: www.roccofortehotels.com
