Six Flags Great Adventure reveals plans for 4D wing coaster
Six Flags Great Adventure has announced plans for Total Mayhem, the company’s second 4D wing coaster which will open at the New Jersey theme park in Q1 2016.
Similar in style to Six Flags Fiesta Texas’ Batman:The Ride, the world’s first 4D free-fly coaster, Total Mayhem will use onboard magnetic technology to create smooth free-fly flips, offering riders the feeling of weightlessness as they soar outside the confines of a traditional rollercoaster on the wing seats with no track above or below them.
The ride will feature a 120-foot-tall (36.5-metre-tall) hill with two beyond 90-degree “raven” drops to give the sensation of freefall.
"We are thrilled to unveil one of the newest concepts in roller coaster engineering with Total Mayhem,” said Park President John Fitzgerald. “Six Flags Great Adventure’s world-renowned coaster collection will expand into the realm of insanity with this new, vertical coaster that delivers gravity-defying somersaults with utter unpredictability.”
