Six shortlisted for Kids in Museums award
Wolverhampton Art Gallery and Edinburgh's National Museum of Scotland are among the six attractions to be shortlisted for this year's Telegraph Family Friendly Museum Award.
The annual accolade, which was won last year by Mansfield Museum in Nottinghamshire, is designed to recognise the most accessible and welcoming attractions to visitors of all ages.
Shortlisted sites also include: Liverpool's World Museum; the Museum of London and Museum of London Docklands; Brixham Heritage Museum, Devon; and Haslemere Educational Museum, Surrey.
A longlist of 20 locations announced in February has been whittled down to the final six by a judging panel chaired by Heritage Lottery Fund chair Dame Jenny Abramsky.
Dame Jenny said: "All the museums on the shortlist are providing wonderful experiences for families. The transformation of museums across the UK to encourage family visits has been remarkable and deserves celebrating."
The shortlisted museums will now be judged anonymously by families against the Kids in Museums Manifesto before a winner is selected.
