SkillsActive approves new level of Sports Leaders award
The SkillsActive professional development board has approved the Sports Leaders UK submission of the Award in Community Sports Leadership at level two.
The award, formerly known as the Community Sports Leaders Award (CSLA) will now go forward for inclusion on the National Qualifications framework.
The board, comprising key national stakeholders, is developing a framework to ensure relevant national occupational standards, qualifications and careers guidance is in place. It is the first time that a qualification has been tested in this way.
Nick Gibbs, chair of the development board said: "This qualification has a strong base of support from employers and Sports Leaders UK has demonstrated the industry need for the award to be elevated to level two."
During 2005, the level one award attracted around 45,000 enrolments.
