Skywalk boosts visitors to Grand Canyon
The opening of The Skywalk – the glass walkway suspended more than 4,000 ft above the floor of the Grand Canyon in the US – in March this year, has seen visitation to the Grand Canyon West area jump 400 per cent, from 500 per day to around 2,000.
Visitor numbers are expected to continue increasing with the opening in 2008 of a new visitor centre which will include a museum focusing on the construction of the Skywalk, restaurants including a gourmet grotto with a window looking over the Canyon and conferencing facilities.
