Snooker players back Hearn blueprint
A blueprint for the future of snooker outlined by Barry Hearn, the chair of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA), has been backed by players.
Plans for the sport, which were ratified by a majority of six following a vote of players, include a series of new tournaments - such as quick-fire shoot-out events and a Germany-based ranking event. A World Seniors' Championship and a Players Tour Championship are also among the proposals for the sport put forward by Hearn.
Hearn said: "I do not underestimate the challenges that lie ahead, but for the moment snooker is united and the future looks rosy."
