Organisers of the Sochi 2014 Winter Games have concluded a working agreement with the Republic of Tatarstan in relation to the hosting of the 2013 World Student Games in Kazan.

Under the terms of the agreement, the partnership will look to deliver the 2013 Universiade and the 2014 Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as sports development across Russia. Sochi 2014 Organising Committee president Dmitry Chernyshenko said: "We are on track to produce a unique and innovative package of practical solutions and methodologies for organisers of major sport events in future.

"This method of delivering major sporting events applies both at a national level, such as the organisation of the Formula One race in Sochi or the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and abroad."
