South Africa to host ICC Champions Trophy
The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that South Africa is to host the 2009 Champions Trophy, which was due to take place in Pakistan last September but was postponed following safety concerns.
Sri Lanka had offered to stage the tournament between 24 September and 5 October, but concerns over weather conditions has led to the ICC selecting South Africa to host the event, subject to commercial terms. ICC president David Morgan said: "The board has made a sensible decision that will give the event every chance of success. We now have clarity on the subject and we can make firm plans for what is going to be a great spectacle of one day international cricket."
The ICC has also confirmed that the 2010 World Twenty20 tournament in West Indies will be held between 30 April and 16 May.
