South Cork marine leisure strategy revealed
Survey information on the marine leisure infrastructure along the entire coastline of County Cork, Ireland, has been made available to the public by Cork County Council (CCC).
The Marine Leisure Infrastructure Strategy for South Cork 2010-2020 aims to help the county take advantage of a wide range of leisure opportunities on offer along its coast. CCC and the Coastal and Marine Research Centre at University College Cork compiled the strategy following the completion of a similar document for West Cork in 2008.
The strategy covers a 500km (310.7-mile) stretch of inlets, bays, beaches and harbours from Timoleague to Youghal and assessed the current leisure and tourism offer. Further measures to enhance the South Cork coastline's potential have been outlined as part of the strategy, which was developed with the help of councils, ports and Fáilte Ireland.
