South Ribble Council asks for financial aid to keep leisure centre open
South Ribble Council is asking other local authorities to help bear the £750,000 cost of keeping its Penwortham Leisure Centre open.
According to the Lancashire Evening Post, a separate entrance and car park need to be created to prevent pupils at the Priory Sports and Technology College, which shares the site, from coming into contact with the public.
A new floodlit tennis and netball facilities will also be installed and a squash court converted into changing rooms.
The council has agreed to pay for half but is asking other authorities, including Lancashire County Council and Penwortham Town Council, for help with the rest.
