South coast’s largest casino opens
Grosvenor Casinos, part of the Rank Group, has opened a new casino at Gunwharf Quays, the £200m mixed-use development on Portsmouth Harbour’s waterfront.
The 14,206sq ft casino, reportly the largest on the south coast, has room for 900 guests and houses a feature bar, a stage for hosting live entertainment and a 40-cover restaurant.
The new opening coincides with the closure of Grosvenor’s casino in Southsea after almost 30 years of operation. Jeff Blaber, general manager, said: "The building was in need of repair and was too small to be able to offer all the facilities that are now expected by modern casino goers."
The recently refurbished Grosvenor Casino on Osborne Road will continue trading. Details: www.grosvenor-casinos.co.uk
