Southampton University opens new facilities
A £4.3m, 76-acre sports development at the University of Southampton has been officially opened by John Inverdale, a former student.
The new facilities include natural turf pitches for American Football, baseball, cricket, lacrosse and rugby, and two floodlit synthetic turf pitches.
A new pavilion with 24 changing rooms, bar and meeting rooms has also been constructed.
The development was undertaken by a partnership between the university, Eastleigh Borough Council and the Football Foundation, enabling the local community to have access to the new complex. Details: www.footballfoundation.org.uk
